I recently started playing nioh 2 again with an new character and I wanted to progress through onmyo/melee hybrind build. So I ended up with Onmyo warrior set. Weapon of your choise tho I would reccomand splitstaff, switchglave or hachets since those weapons have default scaling from magic.

Susano 6+ 7 ame-no-uzume will result in insane raw damage for example, but your dodges have to be on point. Susano 6 + Tsukuyomi/Marici will allow to use jutsu often with abiltity to regenerate it. It’s really helpful. Other than that, ninjutsu build if done properly will cheese almost anything in ng. If u still having trouble, the only other build that is noob friendly is a tanky odachi build. There’s also a ninjutsu skill I forget the name of but it gives u a second chance after u die. 6 Amabie. OP is talking about Nioh 1 though, no soul cores to abuse, not accesory rerolling and rerolling overall sucks until later, going with sub 10 weight gives you a damage bonus on this game and due how broken LW is you can just use reaper on a kusarigama to melt bosses ki and hp. Stats you focus on are strength, stamina, and constitution. I’d first get the bare minimum stat requirements for the armor/gear. Then get at least 30 magic to equip more Omnyo buffs. Then get both strength and stamina up to 99. The rest of the levels go into constitution. Most of the damage you deal with odachi is from using Moonlit Snow skill.Water already makes enemies take %20 more damage so if you add these effects, they'll take %15 more damage. Applying 2 elements will confuse enemies which makes them take %50 more damage. İf water is one of them, you'll deal lots of damage with those effects. And of course you can have both poison and elements.NG+2 is where you really need to learn how to get confusion going since it really amps up the damage when the enemy is confused. If you're playing with mostly sword, you might as well equip a two swords with different elements and switch between the two during a fight. There are several good heavy armor sets - probably the best that you have access to in early to mid game is the Warrior of the East set which can be obtained from Honda Todakatsu in “Horns on Head, Dragonfly in Hand” mission.
